In this competition, organized by CoARQ, the requirement was to develop an architectural proposal for a 50 room hotel on a freed plot adjacent to Guadalajara’s Cathedral, which could establish a dialogue with the strong historical presence there, while offering services appropriate with our times. The typical hotel program nowadays needed to take advantage of a 500 year history background.
The design uses coherent architectonic language and set of rules extracted from the surrounding urban context then applied it to create a design that can easily blend in.
A strong connection with the pedestrian street is created at the ground level.
